The M.Zuiko Digital ED |
Info media photography : Olympus has announced the development of two new prime lenses for the Micro Four Thirds system. The M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm f/2.8 is a telemacro lens with a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:1. Housed in a dust- and splashproof body, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm f/2.8 Macro is designed to complement the similarly rugged Olympus OM-D camera (but can, of course, also be mounted to any other Micro Four Thirds body). The M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm f/1.8 (pictured) is an ultra-bright telephoto lens with a full-metal exterior, designed primarily for portraiture, indoor sports and low-light photography. Mock-ups of both lenses will be on display at the CP+ Photo and Camera Imaging Show in Yokohama, Japan from 9-12 February. The prices and precise launch dates will be announced later in the year.

Hamburg, 8 February 2012 – The ever-expanding family of Micro Four Thirds camera owners will have two new super-high quality lenses to choose from in 2012: the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75mm 1:1.8 lens for portraits and the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 60mm 1:2.8 Macro lens for fans of nature photography.
The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75mm 1:1.8
The large aperture of this very bright lens is ideal for low-light photography and high-speed indoor sports. An excellent choice for studio shots, it also allows Micro Four Thirds owners to capture radiant portraits. While the build quality matches the very high standard set by the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12mm 1:2, its elegant, full-metal design complements top-notch MFT cameras like Olympus’ new OM-D and PEN series.

A perfect first add-on for owners of the new high-end Olympus OM-D camera, this specialist close-up lens is housed in a robust dust- and splashproof body for worry-free shooting in rough conditions outdoors. Detailed macros of plants and animals come beautifully to life with maximum 1:1* magnification at a focusing distance as close as 19cm.
Mock-ups** of both lenses will be available at the CP+ Photo and Camera Imaging Show in Yokohama, Japan from February 9 to 12, 2012. The price and precise launch dates will be available later in the year.
* Equivalent to 2:1 in 35mm equivalent.
** The mock-ups will not necessarily show the final design.
